    • The College of Central Florida provides a commercial driving course for class A licensure in Ocala, Florida. The class lasts seven to eight weeks and offers both a day and evening option. The school holds information sessions on the program every Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Criminal Justice Institute, Building 31, room 107 of the main Ocala campus.

      This CDL course will help you towards a Class A license, which by federal regulations is "any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds." The program requires a $20 application fee. Prior to the course, you must also obtain your Class A CDL permit and pass a medical examination and drug screening.     National Training Truck Drivers School

    • The National Truck Drivers School is state-of-the-art! People come from all over the country to do their resident program, which fully certifies you in three weeks after you have completed at-home coursework. Located approximately an hour and a half outside of Ocala (20 miles south of Jacksonville, FL), this nationally accredited program helps students with job placement upon completion.

      This school offers two different programs, course 08 and course 18. Course 08 is the Commercial Driver's License Preparation Program. It takes 334 hours to complete and includes at-home coursework and a three-week 160-hour program at the facility. The tuition for this program is $4,995, as of 2010. Course 18 is the Commercial Prepared Independent Trucker's Program. It takes 654 hours to complete and includes a 160-hour three-week resident driving program. The tuition for this program is $6,495, as of 2010.

    Roadmaster Drivers School

    • The Roadmaster Driver School has three locations in Florida: Jacksonville, Tampa, and Orlando (located between an hour to two hours outside of Ocala, FL). The program takes between three and four weeks and offers both a Class A and Class B option. The Orlando Branch serves the Ocala area. They offer financial aid and job placement assistance.

    • Mid Tech, located in Orlando, offers both a Class A and Class B program. The Class A program takes a total of 320 hours and teaches the students what they need to know to operate trucks and tractor trailers. The Class B program takes a total of 150 hours and prepares those interested in driving buses or straight trucks.
