All prospective students must hold a Massachusetts nursing license and a bachelor's degree, though the degree may be in a field other than nursing. Applicants must submit three letters of reference, current GRE scores (less than five years old), a personal statement and three short essays.
The nursing educator specialty requires the completion of 42 credit hours of study over a period of two years, including one summer semester. Courses include foundations in advanced nursing practice along with specialty-specific classes. In addition, students may choose to pursue a subspecialty in cancer care, cardiovascular care, correctional health care, genetics care or gerontological care.
According to the university website, tuition varies according to a student's state of residence at the time of application. In 2010, the total annual mandatory tuition and fees were estimated as follows: $9,927 for Massachusetts residents, $11,907 for New England residents, and $17,143 for out-of-state students.
