How to Calculate a Post-Baccalaureate GPA

The post-baccalaureate grade point average (GPA) is calculated the same way that the undergraduate GPA is calculated. However, with your post-baccalaureate GPA, you do not count any courses that are not part of your post-baccalaureate program; you do not factor in any of your undergraduate courses in this calculation. It is important to obtain and maintain a high GPA because applications for entry-level jobs often use it to assess candidates.

Instructions

    • 1

Find your grade and the number of credit hours for each class that you took for the degree.

    • 2

Convert your letter grade to a number grade. Your school's course catalog will provide you information on what the conversion is. Usually, the conversion is 4 for an A, 3 for a B, 2 for a C, 1 for a D and 0 for an F. If you have a "+" you add 0.33. If you have a "-" you subtract 0.33. Your school's catalog will give exact numbers.

    • 3

Multiply the credit hours by the classes' numeric grade to find your quality points for the class.

    • 4

Add together the quality points for every class you took to calculate total quality points.

    • 5

Add together all of the credit hours for classes you took to calculate total credit hours.

    • 6

Divide your total quality points by your total credit hours to calculate your post-baccalaureate grade point average.
