How to Calculate the GPA for UGA

The University of Georgia, or UGA, measures your grade point average, or GPA, on an unweighted four point scale. Knowing your college GPA is important because it may qualify you for additional scholarships, honors programs, and, eventually, internship or job opportunities. Grades from A through F, as well as WF, or withdrew while failing, count toward your GPA. Other withdrawals, such as WP, withdrew while passing; S, satisfactory; and U, unsatisfactory performance, are not included in your UGA GPA.

Instructions

    • 1

Convert each grade earned at UGA to a numerical value. "A"s convert to four. "B"s convert to 3. "C"s convert to 2. "D"s convert to 1. "F"s and "WF"s convert to 0. WF, or "withdrew while failing" courses do count towards your GPA. A plus adds 0.3, while a minus subtracts 0.3. For example, a C+ would be 2.3, while a C- would be 1.7.

    • 2

Multiply your numerical value by the credits the class is worth to find the grade points earned per class. For example, if you received a C- in a three-credit class, multiply 1.7 by 3 to get 5.1.

    • 3

Add the grade points earned in each class to find the sum of your grade points. If you want to calculate your term GPA at UGA, only use your classes for the desired term. If you want to calculate your overall GPA, use all of your classes.

    • 4

Divide the sum of your grade points by the total number of credits taken to find your UGA GPA. For example, if you earned 190 grade points over 83 credits, for example, divide 190 by 83 to get a GPA of 2.29.
