    • Oregon State University has a general horticulture degree program that is conducted online and leads to a Bachelor of Science degree. This program allows students to complete all of their coursework online, aside from biology classes that need to be taken at a local university or college. Students take online courses that include introduction to horticulture crop production, principles of horticultural technology, plant propagation and plant nutrition. Students also take courses that include introduction to horticulture, systems, practices and careers as well as applied ecology of managed ecosystems.

    Texas Tech University

    • Texas Tech University has an online horticulture program that leads students to a Bachelor of Science degree. Students must complete at least 120 semester hours of undergraduate study, with the final 30 hours of the program being completed at Texas Tech. Students take courses that include principles of horticulture, plant propagation, introductory entomology, garden center management, soil fertility management and advanced greenhouse crop production. Students also take online courses that include principles of weed science, genetics, interior plants and urban soil.

    Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

    • Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University has an online horticulture program that leads to a master's degree in agricultural and life sciences. Students who take between one and two courses per semester can expect to complete this program entirely online in four years. This program has five areas of concentration from which students must choose. These areas include education, food safety, environmental science, plant science and pest management and biosecurity, bioregulations and public health. Some of the courses from the core curriculum include information systems and research in the life, international agricultural development and trade and research applications in agricultural and extension education.
