The Veterinary Specialist program is priced at $689 as of 2010, and if you pay for the program in full, you receive a $100 discount. This program can be completed in four months to one year. A high school degree or equivalent is not required for enrollment in the program but it is strongly encouraged.       Kaplan University offers a Veterinary Assistant Certificate. To be eligible to enroll at Kaplan, you must: have a high school diploma or a GED; be a permanent resident or a citizen of the United States; and have access to a computer, according to Education-Portal.com. This certificate is designed to provide students with the education necessary to pursue careers as veterinary assistants. Students take courses such as Medications, Laboratory and Diagnostic Procedures and Animal Nursing, according to Kaplan. The program consists of eight online courses that are to be completed in 12 months, Kaplan says. As of 2010, this program is priced at $3,595.
