Zoology Online Degrees

A zoology degree opens doors for careers in wildlife management or veterinary sciences. In the past, prospective students had to relocate to a school with a recommended program, or at least try to find a school close to home. But these days, there are more options available for those wanting to take some or all of their courses online. Even if an entire zoology program may not be online yet, students may be able to find prerequisite courses like math or science online, or enter a biology, health science, animal husbandry or animal care program.

    • In the summer of 2010, Michigan State University's zoology program began offering online courses, starting with a three-credit ecology course and a four-credit fundamental genetics course. Both are considered core courses for undergraduates seeking zoology degrees, although just a small portion of the 120 credits are required, which includes at least 33 upper division credits and choosing an area of concentration. As of fall 2010, costs are $371.25 per credit hour for in-state lower-division undergraduates and $970.25 for lower-division out-of-state undergraduates. Upper division is $406.25 for resident and $1,001.00 for non-residents. Science and technology intensive majors also pay a special fee, $50 for part-time students or $100 full-time.
