The American University of the Caribbean's School of Medicine has a curriculum that is modeled after medical schools within the United States. They offer five semesters of basic science courses. After those courses, there are four and a half semesters of clinical practice and lecture taught at accommodating hospitals and clinics. The medical institution is accredited by the Accreditation Committee on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). Also, the institution is approved by the New York State Board of Medicine, Texas Medical Board, and the Medical Board of California. The institution's administrative services building is located in Coral Gables, FL.
Located in Belize City, Belize, and part of the Central America Health Sciences University, Belize Medical College's courses are taught through lectures, conferences, and laboratory exercises. Its curriculum is continually upgraded by the Medical Education Committee. Yet, they are not the institution's accreditation source. The institution is accredited by the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), as well as the General Medical Council (GMC). The Central America Health Sciences University-Belize Medical College has an information office located in Washington D.C.
The University of Health Sciences-Antigua is accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda. However, the institution subscribes to the recommendations of accreditation agencies and private sectors such as the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association. Located in St. John's, Antigua, the institution offers two programs; both are ten trimesters in length. Program A has all the basic science courses taken at one location: Antigua, United States, United Kingdom, or Puerto Rico. Program B has the student take the basic science courses at one of those locations four weeks of each trimester. Both programs are taught in English, but all instructors are bilingual. The institution also has a United States office in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Saint Matthew's University is located on Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands --- about an hour from Miami, FL. (See Reference 6) The institution is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). It is also recognized and approved by the New York Department of Education and the Florida Department of Education. (See Reference 6) Though the institution is an hour away from United States borders, it has an administrative office located in Orlando, FL. (See Resource 3) The institution's curriculum operates by trimesters, and classes start in September, January, and May of each year. (See Reference 6)
