Florida Schools That Offer a Bachelor's in Nursing

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is traditionally a four-year academic program that combines classroom and lab instruction with hands-on clinical experience. Graduates are eligible for licensure as a registered nurse, and can move onto a master's program for a specialized focus in the nursing field. According to PayScale.com, registered nurses earned a median hourly pay of $25.84 (Illiniois) up to $33.73 (California) as of 2010. A BSN degree is often an entry-level requirement for competitive nursing positions, and several schools in Florida offer a bachelor's degree in nursing.

    • Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Florida State University is available to students with an associate degree from a Florida public school and current students who have completed the 60 semester hours of prerequisite course work with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. The admission process is competitive and preference is given to qualified, existing FSU students, according to the school's website.

The school boasts a 100 percent pass rate on the national license exam, and only 8 percent of the university's alumnae were required to re-take the exam after the first attempt. The program begins each year in August. Current bachelor's degree holders in another discipline may elect for an accelerated second degree BSN program, and current RN license-holders may take an RN to BSN modified bridge program.
