Located in Orlando, the University of Central Florida offers a bachelor of science degree in nursing. It also offers an R.N. to B.S.N. degree that will take you from your associate's degree to the completion of your bachelor's in nursing. The program takes five semesters to complete and classes are held on the Orlando, Daytona and Cocoa campuses. Classes include clinical research as well as classroom work and can be taken online as well as on campus. UCF works with many different types of doctor's offices and clinics in the Central Florida area for placement.

Florida Atlantic University, or FAU, is located in the beautiful upscale community of Boca Raton, just north of Fort Lauderdale. With campuses in Davie, Fort Lauderdale and Jupiter, FAU offers a traditional bachelor of science degree in nursing. A previous associate's degree is necessary to complete the program and all prospective students must have a 3.0 GPA in previous coursework as well as passing entrance exam scores of 80 percent or higher. Clinical nursing classes make up a majority of the curriculum and last up to 20 hours per week. You also have the option of taking all your prerequisite classes at FAU before entering the nursing school.

Florida State University is located in Tallahassee and offers a bachelor of science degree in nursing as well. With a curriculum very similar to those offered by UCF and FAU, you must satisfy entrance exam requirements as well as have satisfactory grades in your prerequisite courses. The program is 60 total credit hours, some of which can be taken online, but the last 30 credit hours must be taken in residence at the university.
