Colleges That Offer Dual Bachelor's and Master's in Nursing

Nurses provide care for patients in a variety of settings including hospitals, doctor's offices, medical clinics, schools and home health and hospice agencies. They also work to educate patients about treatment options and how to manage their illness. Becoming a nurse requires a college education from a two or four year institution. Some registered nurses have an associate's degree in nursing (AND) but want to advance their education. There are many colleges offering dual programs for nurses to obtain bachelor's and master's degrees together.
  1. University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing

    • University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing offers an RN to BSN/MSN program for nurses with an associate's degree or diploma. As part of program admission requirements, students must complete UA core requirement classes which include biology, chemistry, math and statistics. Courses for the BSN degree include nursing informatics, epidemiology, advanced pathophysiology, theoretical models and fiscal research management.

It should take four terms to complete the BSN degree requirements after core-class requirements have been completed. Students will then go immediately into the master's program. The MSN program should take another two terms to complete. Course work includes evidence-based practice, issues in pharmacotherapeutics and clinical immersion. The RN to BSN/MSN program can be completed at a slower pace for those who wish to be part-time students.
