Boston University offers a degree in forensic investigation that works hand-in-hand with the School of Medicine. This degree is designed with a working professional in mind, and the format is different than a traditional school, with each class lasting two to five days. Courses offered include Cold Case Investigation, Ballistics and Recovery & Identification of Human Remains among others. Boston University has its own crime lab, which is an integral part of the program.

Hofstra University offers a four-year degree in forensic science. While some of the classes are offered online, the majority are on campus in Hampstead, New York. This degree requires general classes in English, math and the sciences and forensic-based classes such as Crime Scene Investigation Methods, Forensic Expert Witness Testimony and Methods in Trace Analysis. This degree requires two distinct internships in the forensic field, with each focusing on a different sub-area. The internships give students the opportunity to work with forensic scientists in a real world environment.
Baylor offers a four-year degree in forensic anthropology, which is based in the anthropology department but is firmly grounded in forensic methods. The program takes place completely on campus in Waco, Texas and requires general liberal arts classes in humanities, writing, math and sciences. Additionally, specialized classes are required, such as DNA Analysis, Forensic Entomology, Blood Pattern Analysis and Osteology. Internships in the field are not required for this program but are strongly recommended.
