Loma Linda University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in respiratory care. The four-year program includes general education and degree coursework. Students must complete prerequisites totaling 82 credit hours before starting the respiratory program. They include human anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, English, humanities and math. Program coursework includes classroom instruction and clinical experiences. Core courses include diagnostic techniques, cardiopulmonary diseases, pulmonary function methodology, exercise physiology and pulmonary rehabilitation, and respiratory therapy science. LLU also offers a bachelor’s degree program in respiratory care for students who already possess an associate's degree in respiratory care from an accredited college. Students in the program will take the same core classes as students in LLU’s regular respiratory degree program.

California College San Diego offers a Bachelor of Science degree in respiratory therapy that takes 36 months to complete. The program is a combination of on-campus and online instruction. Students will study cardiopulmonary pharmacology, microbiology and decontamination, medical gas therapy, airway management, respiratory care protocols and cardiac, renal and pulmonary anatomy and physiology. Other training includes advanced cardiac life support, mechanical ventilation management and perinatal and pediatric care. Program applicants must already have an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy from CCSD or another college.

Oregon Institute of Technology is in Klamath Falls, Oregon, just 20 miles outside of California. The school offers a Bachelor of Science in respiratory care. Students will complete one year of prerequisite classes before entering the respiratory program. These classes include human anatomy and physiology, pulmonary physiology, introductory statistics, medical terminology and elementary chemistry. Core degree courses include essentials of pathophysiology, arterial blood gases, pharmacology, physiology of sleep, hyperinflation therapies and mechanical ventilation. Students will also participate in clinical coursework for hands-on learning experiences. OIT also offers this degree program to students who have already completed some respiratory care training and have passed the Registered Respiratory Therapist exam. Students in this program will receive transfer course credits and will take 47 credit hours of core curriculum classes to graduate.
