LPN to RN Programs in Delaware

An LPN to RN training program offers the necessary education to prepare licensed practical nurses for the NCLEX-RN examination. In Delaware, several training institutions offer this program for licensed LPNs. Prior to applying for an LPN to RN program, applicants must meet education and professional prerequisites.

    • Delaware Technical and Community College offers an associate's degree in nursing with an advanced placement option for students who hold an LPN license. This bridge program, accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, combines theoretical coursework with practical studies. It's offered at the Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown.

      Applicants must submit a copy of their LPN license and must have passed courses in Anatomy & Physiology (I and II), Applied Clinical Mathematics, Human Development, Composition, Critical Reading and Basic/General Chemistry. All applicants must take and pass the NLN Pre-Entrance Examination. As of 2010, the tuition for Delaware residents is $108.25 per credit hour; non-residents pay $270.65 per credit hour.

    Wesley College

    • Wesley College in Dover offers a bachelor of science in nursing degree. This degree program bridges the educational gap from LPN to RN by offering advanced courses with hands-on laboratory coursework. Applicants must hold an LPN license in Delaware and have been accepted into Wesley College. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation (one personal and one professional). As of 2010, the bachelor's degree program tuition is $19,700 per year for full-time students. Financial aid is available.

    Indiana State University

    • Indiana State University offers a distance education LPN to RN bachelor's degree program for Delaware residents. This program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Delaware Board of Nursing. Students complete all required coursework online and take clinical courses in medical facilities or universities in their community.

      Coursework is in three phases: foundational studies (31 credit hours), nursing prerequisite courses (15 credit hours) and baccalaureate-level nursing courses (58 credit hours). Students have the support of a full-time nursing staff. Applicants must hold a Delaware LPN license. If an applicant has not graduated from a community college with an LPN degree, the university will review his transcripts to determine admission eligibility. Tuition for Delaware students is $340 per credit hour, as of 2010.
