CNA Programs in Delaware

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), also known as Nurse's Aides, work with patients, providing basic nursing care and comfort. In the state of Delaware, CNAs are required to be certified before working in this capacity, and most employers will not hire individuals who are not. The Delaware CNA certification test consists of a written exam and five clinical tests that must be performed within 35 minutes. In order to prepare for the exam, several CNA programs are offered. CNA programs in the state of Delaware are required to include double the amount of hours as federally required.

    Delaware Skills Center

    • This CNA program, in Wilmington, Delaware, consists of seven weeks of clinical and classroom instruction. About two-thirds of the instruction takes place in the classroom or in a lab, and the rest offers students hand-on experience in a clinical setting assisting patients. Since the bulk of CNA work is done in a long-term care setting, students perform their clinicals in this setting as well. The curriculum in this course varies, from safety, legal issues and job ethics to anatomy and physiology.
