The Universidad Central Del Este offers degrees ranging from master’s to medical doctor's degrees. Medical specialties range from internal medicine to pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics. The school year runs on trimesters from January through April, May through August, and September through December. Classes are taught in Spanish, but there are special programs for Spanish as a second language. A high school diploma is required to enter this school.

The Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre Y Maestra offers post-graduate degrees in nursing and health sciences, which are two year programs. Classes are taught in Spanish, but a few classes are designed for international students. Students should be fluent in Spanish. The school does not house students on campus. Classes run from August to December and January to April. Courses are designed to prepare students for medical professions.

The Universidad Iberoamericana’s School of Medicine runs three semesters per calendar year, and students must complete 369 credit hours to graduate with medical degrees. U.S. students who complete this program will be able to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination in order to practice within the United States. Coursework includes basic sciences, case studies, patient interaction skills training, critical learning skills training and clinical rotations.
