Medical Schools in Conemaugh, Pennsylvania

Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, in the eastern part of the state near Johnstown, is home to one of the state's largest medical facilities, Memorial Medical Center. This facility offers various educational programs for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine. Conemaugh has no medical schools that offer doctoral degrees, but there are several schools that offer classroom and clinical training to prepare students for nursing and technological careers in health care.
  1. Conemaugh School of Nursing

    • The Conemaugh School of Nursing (CSN) prepares students for a career in nursing in state-of-the-art medical facilities. The school's two-year degree program boasts that, in recent years, 100 percent of its graduates secured employment before graduation and that 93 percent of its graduating class pass the RN licensure exam.

      CSN students receive more than 1,000 hours of clinical experience at the Memorial Medical Center. They earn 36 college credits and 40 nursing credits, which can be applied toward a Bachelor of Science degree.

    Conemaugh School of Medical Technology

    • The Conemaugh School of Medical Technology trains students for careers in diagnostic and laboratory medicine. The program, which is approximately 50 weeks long, is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).

      Students receive theoretical and clinical training, as classroom instruction is supplemented by hands-on experience in the laboratories of Memorial Medical Center. They can train to become histotechnologists, radiologic technologists, medical technologists and surgical technologists.

    Memorial Medical Center

    • Memorial Medical Center, which is a member of the Conemaugh Health System, offers state- accredited EMT and paramedic programs where students receive clinical training from experienced instructors.

      Scholarships and financial options are available to students. Classes vary in length, but most course credits are transferable to area colleges and can be applied toward an Associate or Bachelor of Science degree.

      The Memorial Medical Center also offers physical and pharmacy residency programs.

    Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center

    • The Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center (GJCTC) is just outside of Conemaugh. GJCTC offers a biotechnology program for high school students. The two-year program is designed to advance students in programs at technical schools and four-year colleges and universities. Through agreements with various schools and colleges in Pennsylvania, students can transfer up to 16 credits from the program and apply these credits toward an advanced degree.

      The program teaches students the basic procedures and equipment used in medicine.
