The University of the Pacific in San Francisco offers dental students a full array of academic programs from which they can choose. Aside from the four-year academic program leading to the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree, the school also offers a dental hygiene program as well. The school offers an additional program specifically designed for international dentistry students. An additional specialization is offered in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The dental hygiene program takes approximately 36 months to complete and leads to a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.

The University of Washington (UW) School of Dentistry also offers an entire spate of degree programs and specializations within the field of dentistry. Dental studies at the university are divided among the major academic divisions within the school. Specializations are offered in the fields of restorative dentistry, dental public health sciences, periodontics, endodontics, oral biology, pediatric dentistry, oral medicine, orthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Students at UW are expected to gain a wide range of training in general dentistry while pursuing specializations in one of these fields. The school also offers a bachelor's degree completion program in dental hygiene. Additional programs offered at UW include a general dentistry residency program and a post-doctoral Master of Science program.

The University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) provides a third choice for students wanting to pursue degrees in dentistry on the West Coast. UCLA, like UW, has programs that are divided among the various academic divisions and research departments. The school offers programs in oral biology and medicine; restorative dentistry; associated clinical specialties; public health and community dentistry; advanced prosthodontics, biomaterials and hospital dentistry; and diagnostic and surgical sciences. The school offers a four-year D.D.S. degree program, a two-year program for international dental students and a master's and Ph.D. program in oral biology. Additional programs are offered for dental technician and dental assistant studies as well.
