Boston Two-Year Colleges

Boston residents can pursue professional certificates or associate degrees at one of the city's four two-year community and technical colleges. These colleges offer programs in a wide variety of professional fields, and offer students the opportunity to advance in their careers or begin work in a new field. Many of Boston's two-year colleges also offer distance learning and online education programs.
  1. Roxbury Community College

    • Roxbury Community College was founded in 1973. The college is located in Boston's Roxbury Crossing area. As of 2009, the college had about 2,300 students working toward professional certificates and associate degrees in over 50 different fields. The college also offers continuing education programs and online education.

    Bunker Hill Community College

    • Bunker Hill Community College was founded in 1973, and, as of 2009, the school had over 10,000 students. In addition to its main campus in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood, the college also has campuses in Chelsea, Cambridge, East Boston, Revere, Somerville, and the South End. The college offers Associate of Art degree programs in 17 fields, Associate of Science degree programs in 40 fields, and professional certificate programs in 38 fields. The college emphasizes pre-professional fields such as business, computer technology, hospitality, and management.

    Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology

    • The Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology was established in 1908. The college offers professional certificate programs and associate degree programs in a variety of fields. The college offers financial aid to a large portion of its student body. The college also offers programs for high school students.

    Bay State College

    • Bay State College was founded in Boston in 1946 and was accredited in 1989 by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. The college is located in Boston's historic Back Bay district. As of 2009, the school had about 350 students working toward associate degrees in 15 different fields, and bachelor's degrees in four different fields. The college also offers online education and summer sessions.
