Accredited Online Bachelor's Degrees

In most countries, an accredited university is one which is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education as having the right to grant a college degree. However, in the United States, the Department of Education does not get involved in this process, nor do any state governments do it. Instead, the process of accreditation is left to certain organizations that check each others' credentials and decide if they are worthy of being accredited. For this reason, it's important to check whether the accreditation is actually from a reliable source.

    • Famous for being one of the first online colleges in the world and for offering the Tecep exams (Thomas Edison College Examination Program), Thomas Edison is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Higher Education. This organization is the same one that accredits the likes of Columbia University.     • While the commercials on TV offering technical degrees from DeVry may deter you, rest assured that DeVry University is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Higher Learning Commission. DeVry offers degrees in a variety of subjects and has associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees available.

    Kaplan University

    • Not to be confused with the organization that offers college prep classes, Kaplan University offers bachelor's and master's degrees and is focused specifically on providing its students with the ultimate learning experience online. In fact, its website, instead of starting with the traditional "www," starts with "talent" in order to show that they consider every one of their students to be talented even if they are not learning in a traditional environment.
