Bachelor's Degrees in Utah

Utah's graduating high school students have access to in-state universities ranked in U.S. News & World Report's Top 200 Best Colleges in the United States. These universities include Brigham Young University, University of Utah and Utah State University. These three universities, and other higher learning institutes in Utah, offer a wide range of bachelor's degrees, which usually take four years to complete. Each Utah university also receives national accolades for certain colleges and departments.
  1. Brigham Young University

    • Located in Provo, Brigham Young University (byu.edu), or BYU, is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ for Latter-Day Saints and approximately 34,000 students attend. The school's attendance makes it the largest religion-affiliated university in the United States. In 2009, Business Week ranked BYU's Marriott School of Business as the fifth-best undergraduate business school in the United States. The Marriott School offers bachelor degrees in accountancy, management and information systems.

    University of Utah

    • The largest public university in Utah is the University of Utah (utah.edu), or the U of U. The school has over 30,000 enrolled students at the time of this publication. The U of U is the only university in Utah with an accredited architecture program. The School of Architecture offers a bachelor's degree in architectural studies. This university also features the College of Engineering, which U.S. News & World Report ranked 60th in their Top 100 Best Engineering Schools in the United States. Chemical engineering, bioengineering and computing are some degrees the College of Engineering offers.

    Utah State University

    • Utah State University (usu.edu), or USU, is in Logan and the second-largest public university in Utah at over 25,000 students. At the date of this publication, USU raises over $51 million annually for space aeronautics research, making it second behind Johns Hopkins University. Most of this money goes toward research for students in USU's College of Engineering. The College provides degrees in electrical and computer engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering and biological engineering. USU is also home to the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services, which provides degrees in physical education, psychology and human development.

    Southern Utah University

    • Also called SUU, Southern Utah University (suu.edu) is in Cedar City and had approximately 7,500 students in the 2010-2011 academic year. SUU is home to the reputable College of Performing Arts and Visual Arts. Some bachelor degrees offered by the College are theater arts and dance, music and arts administration. The University also features the Utah Shakespeare Festival -- which hosts plays during the summer -- and the Southern Utah Museum of Art; theater and art students may work or intern at the Shakespeare Festival and Museum of Art.
