The Community College of Alleghany Country offers an associate's degree granting automotive technology program to its students. This program is comprised of a combination of in-class and fieldwork, in which students try their hand at their selection trade. Courses range from general automotive repair to more in-depth studies of specific automotive components. Upon completion of the college automotive engineering program, students receive job placement assistance from the college, enabling them to more quickly obtain a job in their desired field.

Students at the Pennsylvania College of Technology can select from an associate’s or bachelor’s degree program. The associate’s program prepares participants to work within the field of automotive service or repair. Bachelor’s degree participants receive the general repair curriculum along with added training in automotive shop management. The college accepts transfer credits from the University of Pennsylvania, allowing students who previously completed an associate’s degree within the field to continue on to achieve a bachelor’s. Along with their degree, program, participants can qualify for an Automotive Service Excellence. All students must take admissions testing. If the student fails to meet the minimum requirements, he will be required to take remediated course work before beginning in his specialized field.

Students at Lincoln College in Philadelphia can select from an assortment of certificates in a variety of specialties ranging from diesel engines to motorcycle repair. The college features small class size, one-on-one instruction and hands-on practice opportunities. The program includes a combination of in class and field work. A flexible class schedule is available for working individuals who wish to continue their employment while attending school. Upon graduation, participants receive job placement assistance from Lincoln College job placement specialists.
