Florida Engineering Colleges

Florida has dozens of colleges and universities, many of which offer a degree program in engineering. Engineering -- the process of applying scientific and mathematical knowledge to design materials, machines or systems -- is a very broad field and can be applied to computers, electronics, biochemistry and construction. When choosing a college, look for one that has a strong focus in the type of engineering you want to study.
  1. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

    • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is a four-year institution that offers a largely technical curriculum with great emphasis on aeronautical studies. Engineering specialties offered include aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering and computer engineering. The college has two campuses: one in Daytona Beach and one in Prescott, Arizona. Many of the engineering degrees are offered on both campuses.

    University of Miami

    • The University of Miami's College of Engineering offers over a dozen engineering degrees in subjects such as aerospace, audio, architectural, manufacturing, wireless communication, computer, environmental and biomedical. The campus also offers engineering students access to over 50 laboratories to facilitate learning and experiments, including the Digital Signal Processing Lab, Biomedical Imaging Lab, Architectural Engineering Lab, Measurements Lab, Heat Transfer Lab and Wireless Communications Lab.

    Seminole State College of Florida

    • Seminole State College of Florida, in Altamonte Springs, offers several associate's and bachelor's degree programs in engineering. You can earn an associate of arts degree in aerospace, civil, construction, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial or mechanical Engineering. Architectural engineering technology is the only bachelor's degree engineering program.

    Florida Institute of Technology

    • Florida Institute of Technology offers several programs in its College of Engineering, from ocean engineering to chemical and aerospace engineering. The college offers 45 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs in engineering, and the College of Engineering is the largest college at the university, with about 1,700 students. Florida Tech is in Melbourne.
