The State College of Florida offers an Associate's degree in Fire Science Technology at their Sarasota campus. In addition to general courses focusing on communication and ethics, Fire Science Technology majors take classes such as Principles of Fire Prevention, Codes and Standards and Firefighting Tactics and Strategy. Students work in conjunction with the Sarasota County Technical Institute and the Manatee Technical Institute for their training. The State College of Florida also provides an Advanced Certificate of Fire Science to further your education in fire safety.

Edison State College provides a Fire Science Technology degree program at their Lee County campus. Classes are available both online and in person, allowing you to increase your knowledge of fire safety with greater flexibility. Although the college recommends that you have already completed Florida firefighting training, this isn't required to join the Fire Science Technology program. Edison State College also provides a Firefighter Certificate Program for those looking to become a state certified firefighter. It consists of classroom study, physical training and practical activities related to firefighting.

The Associate's of Applied Science in Fire Science Technology at Chipola College is the perfect stepping stone to a Bachelor's Degree in Fire and Emergency Services. The Fire Science Technology degree consists of 60 credits featuring two years of classes with a focus on fire safety. With this degree, you can work your way to becoming a fire safety inspector, fire officer or fire apparatus pump operator.
