Located in Eugene, Lane Community College is a two-year public institution offering both associate's degree programs and certificate programs. Some associate's degrees serve to prepare students for four-year colleges, and others are technical degrees that prepare students for employment. By enrollment, Lane is the third largest of Oregon's 17 public community colleges. More than 36,000 students take classes at each year at the school. The college was founded in 1964. Lane offers two options for students wishing to transfer to a four-year college. They can obtain the Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer Degree or simply take the courses they'll need for the college they choose. Located 30 miles north of Eugene off Interstate 5, Linn-Benton is a state-supported public community college. Linn-Benton was established in 1966. The school features a 104-acre campus with 13 brick buildings connected by covered walkways. Student enrollment is approximately 7,000. The college offers the Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science degree. Both are two-year programs. Additionally, the school offers 1-year certificate programs. Programs include accounting, agribusiness management, animal science, automotive technology, computer networking, nursing and welding.

Umpqua Community College touts itself as one of the country's most beautiful college campuses. The school is located in north Roseburg 65 miles south of Eugene. The campus sits at the bottom of a hillside overlooking a bend in the North Umpqua River. Commuters from Eugene have easy access to the school off Interstate 5 at exit 129. Founded in 1964, Umpqua has an annual enrollment of 3,00o students. While its proximity makes it the third nearest community college to Eugene, the school also offers more than 100 online courses that make it easy for students to earn credits from home. Umpqua offers 74 associate's degree programs, including many that provide for a smooth transfer to a four-year college and others designed primarily to train students in technical fields. Additionally, the school offers more than 30 certificates that quickly move students from the classroom to their chosen careers in a range of technical areas.
