You can earn a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering at the Georgia Tech School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Spellman College is a historically black college offering students a five-year dual degree engineering program. Students take three years of courses (both liberal arts and engineering) at Spellman, then spend two years at a specialized electrical engineering school. The student earns a Bachelor's of Science from Spellman and a Bachelor's of Engineering from the other institution. Required coursework includes Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Graphics, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Computer Programming and Economics. Spellman offers students help with writing, a library, academic and career counseling, summer and early college programs, on-campus jobs, athletics and a wellness program featuring a weight room, fitness center and pool.

Emory College prepares students for the electrical engineering field with a dual degree program with the Georgia Institute of Technology. Successful graduates receive bachelor's degrees after five years from both organizations. Required courses include calculus-based physics, chemistry, English and history. Financial aid is available (students in the program pay tuition solely to Emory College). Students may join fraternities and sororities, participate in student government, write for the school paper or literary magazine, act in theater or musical performances and join organizations specific to their culture, sexual preference or other interests.
