SAE Institute of Technology is located in the heart of Nashville and is walking distance from a multitude of professional recording studios. The school has more than 20 studios and workstations where students can learn the skills of audio production. Full-time students can complete the audio production program in nine months, attending classes Monday through Thursday. The school also offers a part-time program, which can be completed in 18 months. The part-time students attend classes only on Mondays and Wednesdays. Workshops are held on Fridays and include a variety of topics like soldering, drum miking, drum and guitar, recording, as well as visits from professional producers and engineers. The objective of the program is to prepare students for entry-level positions in recording, post-production in the studio and live events, and entry-level entertainment management.

The Audio Production degree is targeted at students who are interested in careers in audio production and audio engineering. Belmont University offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in media studies: audio-video production. The purpose of the degree is to provide training and theory that will prepare students to produce material for broadcast or non-broadcast purposes. Students study both theory and practical courses, along with preprofessional training for careers in television, video production, and multimedia. Students are required to take courses in mass communication, audio engineering, music industry electronic media, video production, scriptwriting, media business and recording technology. Classes are taught in the 7,000-square-foot Media Studies Center. The center has a multi-media computer lab, a campus radio station, a broadcast studio, and editing suites. Students at Belmont must also complete the university's general education program, which provides a diverse background in writing, speaking, evaluating and constructing arguments, communication and use of technology.
