Paco-Hernando Community College (PHCC) has four locations at Brooksville, Dade City, Spring Hill and New Port Richey, which is the main campus. Offering programs including associate in science, associate in applied science, associate in arts, technical certificates and diplomas, the college offers an "open door" policy for both high school student and general equivalency diploma (GED) recipients. Students have the option to choose day, evening, weekend and online classes in the health care, law, business and human service fields.

The University of South Florida (USF) is located south of Brooksville. It has four different campuses: with locations in Tampa, Saint Petersburg, Sarasota and Lakeland. Founded in 1956, USF opened its doors to address the specific needs of an urban sprawl in the region. The college, with all satellite facilities, offers 228 degree programs to more than 39,000 students. Courses are offered at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels, including a college of medicine. In athletics, USF is a member of the Big East Athletic Conference.
