Community Colleges in Charlotte, North Carolina

    • Central Piedmont Community College is the largest community college in the state of North Carolina. The college has six separate campuses located throughout the Charlotte metro area. These locations help make education easy to access by students, no matter where they live in the city.

      In addition to the courses taught at these six campuses, online classes also are available. Approximately 250 classes are taught in an online environment each semester. Online learning is supplemented by traditional distance-learned methods, including television video classes.     • The ECPI College of Technology is a private community college that focuses on real world learning that completely prepares students to enter directly into careers. Both associate's and bachelors degrees are available. Through an accelerated program, students can obtain these two degrees in only one and a half or two and a half years, respectively.

      Career preparation at ECPI College of Technology goes beyond classroom learning, and includes several workshops designed to give students hands-on career experience. Other services help prepare students to successfully apply for their dream position, with classes in resumes, interviews, networking and professional presentation.

    Carolina College of Health Science

    • Carolina College of Health Science is part of the larger Carolinas Healthcare System, and is run by the Carolinas Medical Center hospital in Charlotte. This relationship gives students access to the only Level One trauma center in the Charlotte region, and facilitates advanced hands-on medical training.

      Several two-year medical associate's degree programs are available, such as medical technology, nursing, radiation therapy and surgical technology. Regardless of the career path chosen, all students have access to Carolina College's computer simulation and biology laboratories.

    • The Medical Careers Institute is a community college focused on preparing students for careers in the medical field. The institute offers flexible class scheduling, including day, evening and online classes. By focusing only on the most important classes needed for a medical career, the Medical Careers Institute can award associate's degrees in as short as two years, and Registered Nurse degrees in one year.
