Bible Colleges Near Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte, North Carolina, is the birthplace of Christian evangelist Billy Graham, whose Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has its world headquarters in the Queen City.     • Established in 1973 as the Cape Fear School of Theology, Carolina Bible College is located in Fayetteville, some 90 minutes east of Charlotte. The school has a strong emphasis on Bible education and student diversity with degrees offered on the associate and bachelor level. In addition to classes available on campus, Carolina Bible College also runs a distance education program. In 2010, Carolina Bible College is working through the accreditation process with the Association for Biblical Higher Education.

    Montreat College

    • Montreat College is headquartered in the Blue Ridge Mountains, but the college has a presence in Charlotte, thanks to its School of Professional and Adult Studies, which opened there in 1994. The Charlotte program offers associate, bachelor's and master's degree programs in business in addition to a Master of Art in Education (K-6) and a Master of Science in Management and Leadership. Montreat was founded in 1916, has just over 1,110 students enrolled at four campuses and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges.

    Southern Evangelical Seminary & Bible College

    • Located in Matthews, just south of downtown Charlotte, Southern Evangelical Seminary & Bible College was founded as a seminary in 1992 with the Bible college added in 2004. A Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies is offered along with Master of Art, Master of Divinity and a Master of Religious Education degrees. The school also confers Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. A distance education program is also available. Southern Evangelical Seminary & Bible College is a member of and accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools, recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education as an accrediting agency.
