Alexander County was established in 1847 and is a small town located in northern North Carolina, about one hour north of Charlotte, the state's largest city. The town is bordered by the Catawba River, Lake Hickory and the Brushy Mountains, one of the oldest mountain chains in the United States. No colleges can be found in Alexander County; however, colleges are located about 20 miles away in any direction in neighboring towns.
