Tri-County Community College (TCCC) is a public school founded in 1964 that is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges in Schools. The school’s website claims that students save nearly $5,000 by completing their first two years at Tri-County Community College before transferring to a four-year bachelor’s program.
TCCC has agreements with all 16 University of North Carolina colleges and 21 of the state’s private colleges that make transferring into their bachelor’s degree programs from the school easy and seamless. The college offers a wide variety of programs including Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Management and Nursing. The school also has numerous professional certification programs and continuing education opportunities.

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College was established in 1959 as Asheville Industrial Education Center before transitioning to a community college in 1964 under the North Carolina System of Community Colleges.
The school’s earliest programs were in Practical Nursing and Electronics Engineering Technology. These programs are still administered at the college along with many others that have since been put into the curriculum. The campus now has additional campuses in Madison County and in Enka. The main campus has 21 buildings spread over 144 acres and it includes the historical Smith-McDowell House, which is the oldest house in Buncombe County.

Blue Ridge Community College is a two-campus school based in Flat Rock that offers more than 100 degree and certificate opportunities. Among the latest additions to the programs offered at Blue Ridge are Film and Video Technology, Simulation and Game Development, Fire Protection Technology, Accounting and Virtual Office Assistance. These new programs add to an already comprehensive selection of associate transfer programs in General Education, Science and the arts.
Blue Ridge Community College offers continuing education and high school programs as well. These courses allow professionals to continue training in their career field and will allow high school students to get a head start by obtaining early college credit.
