The Alberta College of Art + Design is located on a hill above downtown Calgary where students can take advantage of the city's museums, galleries and artistic events. Besides art theory, the college emphasizes studio work in fine art, design and media. With a 245,000-square-foot building, the studios are spacious and the class sizes are kept small. Among the programs offered at ACAD is a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in majors such as ceramics, drawing, sculpture, and media arts and digital technologies. The Bachelor of Design program offers a major in Photography and in Visual Communications. Graduates with a Bachelor of Design degree can have careers in entertainment, advertising, new media, television, film, and gaming. ACAD also has post diploma degree programs and extended studies.

Columbia College, established in 1986, takes pride in not only the quality of its service to students, but in its role as consultant to industry and government. This dual focus allows the college to respond to needs of the government and business community and to assist graduates with job placement. The college has three groups of programs: Pre-Career, Professional and Bridging to Professional. The Pre-Career program is for the student whose goal is employment in his chosen field. Programs include Health Care Housekeeping, Introduction to Manufacturing & Assembly and Community Support Services. Professional programs are for professionals already working in their field and looking to advance their education and careers, or for those advancing from a Pre-Career program. Numerous fields of study are offered such as Business Management, Criminal Justice and Human Resources. The Bridging to Professional programs are for students who have been away from education for some time and may need refresher courses before entering the Professional programs.

St. Mary's University College believes students should be educated in the liberal arts and sciences, and all St. Mary students are required to complete the Liberal Arts and Sciences program before transferring into a degree program. This usually takes one to two years of undergraduate studies. The degrees offered by St. Mary's are a three-year Bachelor of Arts with concentrations in General Studies, English, History or Psychology; a four-year Bachelor of Arts with an English major and one of several minors; a two-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, which requires a completed St. Mary's Bachelor degree or the equivalent. The Education degree is designed for graduates to teach in the K through 6 elementary schools in Alberta. The college also offers athletic activities in men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's futsal (a form of soccer).
