The British Columbia Institute of Technology, or BCIT, offers programs developed through consultation with leading industry employers. BCIT's main campus is in Burnaby in metro Vancouver; satellite campuses are in Richmond, Vancouver and North Vancouver. Students enjoy small class sizes; a two-year technology diploma program, for example, enrolls 20 to 25 students in a class. Programs include applied and natural sciences, business media, computing and information technology, engineering, health sciences, and trades and apprenticeship. Langara College is a community college that offers university studies, career and continuing studies leading to a bachelor's degree, associate degree, diploma or certificate upon graduation. With a student population of 20,000, this Vancouver campus near the Canada Line train celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2010. Programs include creative and applied arts, health and human services, liberal arts and languages, management and business, science and technology and social and cultural studies. In 2007, a new library and classroom complex opened to accommodate the increased student population.

Vancouver Community College offers 140 certificate and diploma programs. The British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education selected VCC to offer the B.C. Provincial Instructor Diploma Program. Students can study for a grade 12 diploma or take a self-paced essential skills course as prerequisites for admission to other programs. Courses include apprenticeship, business, hospitality, languages, music and transportation trades. According to the VCC website, this college offers Western Canada's most extensive English language teacher training, or TESOL, program.
