New York Division 1 Colleges

Division I (or D-I) is the highest level of intercollegiate athletics, a ranking that is determined by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Division I colleges tend to be major athletic powers with big budgets and upscale facilities. These larger schools hand out more athletic scholarships than their Division II and III counterparts. (The Division I football programs are actually broken down into sub-categories: IA and IAA, which are predicated on the size of the program and not the school.) The state of New York is home to several colleges and universities with renowned Division 1 programs.
