The University of Miami is located in southern Florida, in Coral Gables. Their School of Communication is one of their newest schools, being founded in 1985. Students can earn their master's degree in broadcasting. The university's major in broadcast journalism is part of their electronic media program. Students will train in gathering, analyzing and reporting electronic news. They receive hands-on experience via the university's weekly newscast, as well as other outlets. This is a one-year program that is primarily focused on the journalism aspect of broadcasting.

Miami Dade College's School of Entertainment and Design Technology offers education with their Radio and Television Broadcast Programming. Miami Dade offers state-of-the-art facilities, including: facilities for film and video post-production, sound and lighting stage, recording studio, television studio, and a cable broadcasting facility that is in operation all day long, every day of the week. The college offers two tracks for this program: an associate's degree program and a certificate program. The associate's track includes both introductory and advanced coursework in broadcasting. Students learn about broadcast news, studio production, radio production, motion graphics, digital non-linear editing, lighting design, announcing and the business practices of broadcasting. The certificate track is a less intense program but provides hands-on training needed for students to become a television broadcast technician.

Hillsborough Community College offers students broadcasting training via the college's associate's in science in digital television and media production, and their associate's in applied science in digital television and media production. Both degrees prepare graduates for radio, television and other media broadcasting. This is a hands-on degree program where students produce broadcasts via the college's radio and cable channel stations. Topics students cover include: television production, broadcasting techniques, broadcasting film and news, field production and television graphics.
