Aviation Mechanic Colleges Near Los Angeles

Colleges offer two programs in aviation mechanics: an associate's degree in aviation maintenance and a certificate in aviation mechanics. You should ensure the Federal Aviation Administration recognizes the program you choose. For certificate programs, you must complete a minimum number of training hours involving theoretical and practical learning. An associate's degree requires two years of full-time study. While Los Angeles has only one FAA-approved aviation mechanics program, several colleges in the area offer approved programs.
  1. West Los Angeles College

    • West Los Angeles College offers an associate's degree for aviation maintenance technicians and certificates in aviation for aircraft power plant technicians and airframe maintenance technicians. The certificate programs prepare students to pass the FAA's airframe and power plant mechanic certification exam. The college's aviation maintenance training program began in 1947 at the Los Angeles Airport College Center. As of 2010, the program features evening-only classes.
