The University of Southern California (USC) is one of the nation's best universities. U.S. News & World Report ranked the university as the 26th highest-rated national university in the United States. Aside from its national powerhouse reputation in college football, USC is well-respected as an academic institution both in terms of its undergraduate education and graduate research. USC enrolls more than 33,000 students each year. Also renown for its sports programs, UCLA is among the most recognizable names in higher education. The academic programs at UCLA are distributed among the five major academic divisions of the College of Letters and Sciences, the professional programs, health sciences programs and its International Institute. The College of Letters and Sciences consists of the departments of humanities, life sciences, physical sciences, social sciences and undergraduate education.
