Los Angeles Community College (LACC) consists of nine colleges, making it easy to find a campus close to where you live. As a multischool, diverse institution, LACC offers a wide variety of majors and fields of study. The colleges offer unique classes in television sciences and television instruction, as well as other vocational technology programs. Many of LACC's students are over 25 years old, so the school works with many who are balancing a career or family with going back to school. In addition, the LACC student body consists of a significant number of Latinos and African-Americans, and the college provides vibrant student communities for them.

West Los Angeles College sits on a beautiful campus in Culver City and offers students a wide range of associate's degrees and professional certifications. In particular, West Los Angeles College teaches courses in criminal justice, childhood development and child care and aviation. The college provides online and weekend courses for working students, as well as transfer assistance after completion of an associate's degree. For many in the Los Angeles area, Santa Monica College is the most competitive community college in the city because it has one of the strongest transfer rates to University of California schools, especially UCLA. The college offers a number of degree programs and fields of study. The requirements for each associate's degree are designed to increase the chances that the student will be easily accepted in a full-time bachelor's degree program after receiving an associate's degree.
