If you're looking for a healthcare career with solid job prospects and a high salary, a career as a dentist may be for you. "Employment of dentists is projected to grow by 16 percent through 2018, which is faster than the average for all occupations," notes the United States Department of Labor. The agency's research shows the average salary for a general dentist in May 2009 topped $156,000. Requirements for a career in this field include graduation from an accredited dental college.
