The University of California, Los Angeles, has a school of dentistry offering several programs. The four-year DDS program consists of 12 quarters that are 10 weeks each and three nine-week summer sessions. Students will take basic science and preclinical labratory classes during their first two years of study. The clinical rotations take place at Wilson-Jennings-Bloomfield Venice Dental Center and Harbor/UCLA Medical Center. In addition to the DDS program, UCLA also offers master's and doctoral programs in oral biology and a number of residency certificates in specialties including endontics, orthodondics and periodontics.

The four-year DDS program at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry focuses on curriculum including basic sciences, oral anatomy and management of a dental practice. The first two years of study consists largely of coursework; students will begin to work on patients at the end of their second year. The third and fourth years of the program focus on clinical science courses and transition the student into clinical practice. In addition to the DDS program, the university also offer dental hygiene programs, dental therapy programs and master's and doctoral programs in clinical research.

Boston University offers a DMD program that can be completed in four years. The first year of study focuses on basic biomedical and behavior sciences. Students will work as dental interns at the end of the year. During the second year, students will develop clinical skills in areas like operative dentistry and pediatric dentistry. The third and fourth years of the program are a combination of clinical care and work in the classroom. Students will have more exposure to the dental specialties in their final years. Boston University also offers a number of postdoctorate degrees and certificates in areas of study that include oral biology and periodontology.
