The University of Toledo in Ohio offers undergraduate and graduate degree options in speech-language pathology. The undergraduate program provides a bachelor’s degree after four years of study, and the master’s degree option provides students with a choice of three certifications. The choices are certificate of clinical competence, licensure as a school speech-language pathologist, and certification advice, in which students follow the advice of their graduate counselor and obtain both clinical competence and school speech-language pathologist certification. Students take courses that include diagnosis of speech and language disorders, and assessment and remediation of fluency disorders.

LaSalle University in Pennsylvania has a master of science program in speech-language pathology. Students who have a bachelor’s degree in speech-language hearing sciences or communication sciences and disorders can enter the program directly. Students who have a bachelor’s degree in another field must complete 10 prerequisite courses prior to beginning the master’s degree program. Courses include introduction to aural habilitation and rehabilitation, fluency and stuttering, acquired language disorders and language disorders in children.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma offers a bachelor’s degree in speech language pathology as well as five graduate options for students who wish to pursue professional certification. The undergraduate program, which can be completed in three years, includes courses in human development and learning, orientation to teaching, normal speech and language development, introduction to speech-language pathology and diagnostic methods in speech-language pathology.
