Located in New York City's northernmost borough of the Bronx, Hostos Community College is part of the City University of New York system of schools. Founded in 1968, today the college hosts a Licensed Practical Nursing certificate program within their department of Allied Health career programs. The program's curriculum consists of biology, psychology and mathematics courses, in addition to a sequence of clinical coursework to be completed in the program's latter semesters. Clinical Nursing I and II and General Psychology and Pharmacology are just a few of the courses required. The LPN program takes two years to complete. Additionally, students matriculated in Hostos's LPN program can transition into the college's associate degree program to become a registered nurse upon fulfilling additional requirements.

The College of Southern Nevada is in North Las Vegas, Nevada, a city in the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc., and the Nevada State Board of Nursing, the college's two-year practical nursing program prepares students for LPN certification upon graduation. The curriculum includes required coursework in mathematics and English, as well as specialized nursing courses like Introduction to Practical Nursing and Pharmacology for Nursing Practice. With mostly evening and weekend classes, South Seattle Community College's LPN program is designed to accommodate students with careers. The Washington State community college's LPN certificate program can be completed over the course of four quarters, and begins only in the summer. Program prerequisites include courses in math, anatomy and English, and they must be completed before students can matriculate into South Seattle's LPN program. The program's curriculum consists of five technical specialty courses in nursing, including Medical Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing and Fundamentals of Nursing. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in order to successfully meet the program's requirements.
