Monroe County Community College has an online LPN to RN degree program that leads to the completion of an associate of applied science degree in nursing. This program is only open to residents of Michigan and the northwest region of Ohio. Students who graduate from the program are prepared for entry into the nursing field as a registered nurse after passing the National Council Licensure Examination. Courses include nursing care of adults and of special populations in obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and nursing leadership.

The Community College of Baltimore County offers an online/hybrid option for students who are pursuing the LPN to RN transition program. Students are only admitted in the fall semester for the online option. Students who are accepted must have all prerequisite courses completed before the end of the application period on March 15. The didactic portion of the program is completed online and students are required to meet face-to-face one day per week for clinical instruction. Prerequisite courses include introduction to psychology and principles of human growth and development. Other required courses include mental health nursing concepts and care of children and adults.

Gaston College has an online accelerated and weekend/evening option for students who pursue the LPN to RN degree option. Students who complete this program earn an associate of applied science degree. Students are required to meet face-to-face for quizzes and clinical/laboratory instruction. Required courses in this program include nursing transition concepts, developmental psychology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology and argument-based research.
