Excelsior College, located in Albany, New York, offers two different online nursing degrees. Students can obtain either an associate of science (A.S.) or an associate of applied science (A.A.S.) in the nursing field. Both programs are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and the Middles States Association of the Higher Learning Commission. Students are required to complete 67 credit hours to receive either of these degrees. Of these, 36 hours are from the field of nursing. The entire program is geared toward completion of the Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination (CPNE) that is the standard for nursing competency at this level.

Rasmussen College also offers online nursing degrees at the associate degree level. Rasmussen College's main campus is located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, but it has 17 additional campuses in various locations in the Midwestern United States and in Florida. Rasmussen's associate degree in nursing is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Rasmussen offers two different degree tracks, including an associate degree in practical nursing and a professional nursing degree designed to prepare students to move on to the bachelor's degree level. Both programs require that students participate in off-campus practicum experiences. A number of sites in Minnesota, North Dakota, Florida and Wisconsin are available for these experiential components of the program. Areas of study covered by the program include diet and nutrition, maternal-child nursing, fundamentals of nursing, and nursing role and scope, among others.

Panola College in Carthage, Texas, is yet another college offering the associate degree in nursing in an online format. The Panola program is accredited by the NLNAC, and its program is approved in the state of Texas by the State Board of Nursing. The entire program is 72 credit hours and requires courses in the areas of pharmacology, microbiology, clinical nursing, concepts in adult health care, mental health nursing, lifespan growth and development, nutrition, maternal health care, and care of children and families.
