South American Medical Schools

Physicians are often in short supply in underdeveloped parts of the world, like South America. The World Health Organization recommends four health care workers for every 1,000 people. In South America, only three countries, Brazil, Bolivia and Uruguay, meet this recommendation. According to the Institute for International Medical Education, there are more than 200 medical schools in South America helping rectify this shortage.
