Miami International University of Art and Design offers a range of degree programs in design, fashion and media arts. Students are encouraged to learn through innovative projects, such as assisting on photo shoots, creating advertising campaigns, developing computer animation and creating, marketing and selling original works of art. There are also a number of graduate art programs, including a master of arts in graphic design, a master of fine arts in interior design, a master of fine arts in visual arts and a master of fine arts in film.

The New World School of the Arts offers, in association with the University of Florida and Miami New Dade College, a bachelor of fine arts program in which students can specialize in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture or electronic intermedia. The school maintains close ties with several community institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Art in Public Places, Miami Art Museum, the Downtown Development Authority and the Miami Transit. These partnerships open up many educational and practical experiences for the students. There are also local internship opportunities and international exchange programs.

The Department of Fine Arts at Barry University offers the studio art major, which can be taken as a bachelor of fine arts or a bachelor of arts. There are also options to specialize in art history, which leads to the bachelor of arts degree, and to minor in art and art history. Students can specialize in areas such as painting and/or drawing, ceramics and graphic design.
