The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston is the top ranked nursing program in Texas. The HSC offers several degree plans including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses (RNs). The Health Science Center also offers Master's and Ph.D degrees in nursing. Graduates from the School of Nursing have a wide variety of career options including Obstetrics and gynecology. Texas Woman's University is the highest ranked nursing program in Texas outside of the University of Texas system. This university offers not only in-person classes on three campuses located in Denton, Dallas and Houston and the option of weekend-only classes but offers a completely online degree program as well. TWU offers several Master and Ph.D. programs in a variety of different areas including clinical nursing specialties. One of the main research areas at TWU is woman's health so graduates have the chance to gain a better knowledge needed for Ob/Gyn nursing.

The Louise Herrington School of Nursing at Baylor University is also a ranked nursing school in Texas. The main campus is located in Waco but the nursing school is located in Dallas. Baylor offers a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, but acceptance into the school of nursing is only possible after a significant amount of coursework is completed at the main campus. The university also offers graduate programs including a Nurse Practitioner degree, an Advanced Neonatal degree and just recently has introduced a Nurse-Midwifery degree. Students in the nursing school learn all aspects of the field of nursing so they may choose any career path, including ob/gyn nursing. More specified coursework is available in the graduate programs.
