CNA Certificate Schools in Minnesota

Minnesotans wishing to pursue a career as certified nursing assistants (CNAs) have an array of educational choices approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Students will benefit from instruction of licensed nurses in both the classroom and the clinical setting. Although each school's curriculum varies slightly, each of them adequately prepare students to work in an array of settings as CNAs.
  1. Dakota County Technical College

    • Located in Rosemount, Dakota County Technical College offers CNA training classes three times per year, in the spring, summer and fall semesters. Both day and evening classes are offered. Students spend time in the classroom and laboratory learning and practicing basic nursing skills. Upon completion of the classroom component of training, students partake in 24 hours of supervised clinical experiences at area nursing homes and hospitals.

    Rochester Community and Technical College

    • Rochester Community and Technical College, located in Rochester, offers a six credit CNA program. Students may pursue optional courses specializing in acute nursing care and long-term nursing care. Throughout the course, students are taught about charting, record keeping, patient and resident care, and home health care. Upon completion of classroom instructions, students partake in clinical rotations at area hospitals and nursing homes. Classes start multiple times throughout the school year. Day and evening classes are offered.

    Saint Paul College

    • Located in Saint Paul, Saint Paul College offers a CNA program comprised of two classes. One course is based in the classroom and awards students four credits. Students learn about basic anatomy and physiology, and they learn how to take vital signs and perform other basic nursing skills, including bathing, feeding and dressing patients. The other course, which is one credit, includes clinical instruction and hands-on practice at nursing homes. Students are required to attend all clinical rotations to graduate from the program.
