The University of Arizona offers a bachelor of science degree in nursing with the two distinct program designs. The “traditional pathway” option is for students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Applicants must complete prerequisite coursework in English, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, biology, statistics, nutrition and biology with a GPA of at least 3.0 in order to be considered for admission. Candidates must also submit a short statement of intent and complete an interview. The “accelerated pathway” option is for students who hold a baccalaureate degree in another subject. This program can be completed within 14 months of full-time study. Specialized major coursework includes pharmacology and leadership for nurses, maternal nursing, mental health nursing, illness management and community health.

Arizona State University offers a bachelor of science in nursing at two locations: Phoenix and Scottsdale. Candidates must complete prerequisite coursework in social science, liberal arts and biology with a minimum GPA of 3.25. A formal Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and an interview are also required for admission. This is followed by 16-24 months of advanced theoretical and practical training in nursing, The length of time is dependent on which stream the applicant is admitted into. The 24-month program is located at the downtown Phoenix campus. The 16-month “upper division” program is a highly selective option that is located at both the downtown Phoenix campus and in Scottsdale at the Mayo Clinic. Coursework for both options combines nursing theory and concepts with hands-on clinical and experiential training.
